60 – Achieving Happiness in Your Life – The First Step – With Sarah Stanley

Part one of a two episode series with ultra-marathoner, entrepreneur and wellness educator Sarah Stanley! This week we discuss happiness and what is really important in your life for optimal health.

Both Dr. Dave and Sarah believe in starting with happiness on your health journey. Guest Sarah loves two particular quotes: “Happiness is an inside job” + “You are what you eat, drink, and think” says Sarah. “Don’t miss the headspace. You need to not have negativity in your mind to live a good life and find happiness.” says Sarah.

Sarah’s goal is for people to “live free” in their eating, their thinking, living their lives, their health. “This is your life! Make decisions based upon you and your life!” says Dr. Dave.

Sarah has had quite a journey and experienced heartache. It does get better and she is glad that it had ended, but she couldn’t see it at the time or immediately following the shocking ending. “I am loveable and I am worthy of love” were two of her mantras as she worked her way through her sadness and struggle.

“That is the most selfish quote I have ever heard”, says Sarah. “Your actions and choices impact everyone and for generations!” This whole live now and don’t worry about the impact or consequences of anything from the chocolate bar or cup of coffee you are buying to overeating and binge drinking is horrible and selfish way to live.
 
CUT OUT THE CRAP
Do not keep polluting your mind with bad negative hurtful music, televisions, and magazines. Cut these out of your life! Do not fill your mind with crap!
 
SOMETIMES YOU NEED TO BE THROWN INTO A NEW DIRECTION
Sometimes you absolutely need to go through rough experiences that literally throws you in a new direction. And guess what? Sometimes it really really hurts. This is just what some of us need to actually make the necessary changes in our lives that need to happen. “Tough times make us a strong person and builds our character and values,” says Sarah.
 
GET CONNECTED TO YOUR FOOD, DRINKS, AND THE EARTH
Learn where your food comes from and how it got on your plate. Stay connected to its origins. Where does your coffee and chocolate come from? Who harvested it and was it done in a fair trade humane way? Stay connected to this earth and nature and its people.
