For today’s show, Dr Dave is recording from Catskill Animal Sanctuary in Saugerties, NY. Catskill Animal Sanctuary is a beautiful large farm with a small bed & breakfast. Dr Dave & Yoko spent the weekend there and have had the opportunity to spend time with tons of different animals such as horses, goats, pigs, chickens, cows, and sheep. These are animals that have been rescued from a farm, their owners could no longer care for them, or they were found injured. Dr Dave strongly urges that you visit a nearby animal sanctuary.
People at the end of their lives often wonder why they spent so much time chasing money. Money does not make you happy. Money does bring opportunities that can provide happiness such as donating to charitable organizations or starting your own business. But there is a limit to what is really needed. A fews weeks back, Dr Dave published a podcast (Episode 70) that focused on the topic of money. While money is important, there are many people who live on a modest income but are very happy and live comfortably. If you are living below your means and are able maintain your home and provide for your family, you are probably wealthier than you know. There is nothing wrong with hard work. Dr Dave loves working hard to help others improve their lives! We are together on this!
Dr Dave recently received a call from a professional who no longer enjoys what he is doing in life. He has been very successful but does not enjoy getting up and going to work. It has been a struggle for him.
When you have a feeling in your heart, that you no longer enjoy doing what you are doing, why keep doing it? Of course you must take care of your financial obligations but you should still love what you do every day. Even if it means taking a paycut or reducing your living expenses. It is so rewarding to love what you do!
While in Breckenridge, CO, Dr Dave was able to lose 7-8 lbs. all while indulging on a few vegan treats. He was able to achieve this by skiing and walking instead of driving whenever possible. What does this have to do with happiness? Your health directly contributes to your happiness. It is worth it to feel good and be healthy. Being active is one of the best ways to improve your mood. If you are able to watch what you eat and obtain regular exercise, you will see a huge difference in how you feel.
Dr Dave is looking to speak to someone about coaching them to help improve their lives. This is not something he currently does, but he would like to develop a program to achieve this.
